Most businesses do not need a more complicated SEO strategy. They need to fix the few problems already preventing customers from finding, trusting or contacting them.
This is particularly true in Kathmandu, where many businesses compete against websites with incomplete service pages, inconsistent addresses and neglected Google Business Profiles. Fixing these fundamentals will not guarantee a top position, but it gives every later SEO investment a better chance of working.
1. Check whether Google can index your important pages
Before changing keywords or publishing another article, confirm that Google can access the pages responsible for generating business.
Open Google Search Console and inspect each important URL. Look for accidental noindex directives, incorrect canonical URLs, broken internal links and pages excluded from Google's index. If the page cannot be indexed, improving its wording will not solve the problem.
Use our technical SEO audit checklist for a structured review before investing in more content.
2. Give every important service its own page
A general services page rarely provides enough information to represent several different offers. If a business provides SEO, website development, Google Ads and social media marketing, each important service needs a useful page of its own.
Explain what the service includes, who needs it, how delivery works, what it does not include and what the customer should do next. One clear page per search intent also reduces keyword cannibalisation. Ten weak pages pursuing similar phrases usually perform worse than one authoritative page built around a defined customer need.
3. Complete your Google Business Profile
For businesses serving Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur or the wider valley, Google Maps may produce more calls than traditional organic results.
Verify the profile and complete the primary category, relevant secondary categories, address or service area, telephone number, opening hours, services and business attributes. Add current photographs of the real premises, team or work rather than relying only on designed graphics.
Keep these details consistent with the website. Google describes local results as being driven mainly by relevance, distance and prominence. A business cannot control the searcher's distance, but complete and accurate information helps Google understand its relevance.
4. Replace vague page titles
A title such as Home or Our Solutions tells a customer almost nothing. Use a title that accurately describes the page, such as Dental Clinic in New Baneshwor | Brand Name or Website Development in Kathmandu | Brand Name.
Avoid combining words such as best, cheap and top with several locations in one title. A professional title clarifies the offer; it does not read like a list of phrases inserted for a search engine.
5. Test the mobile contact journey
Open the website on an ordinary mobile phone rather than relying entirely on a desktop performance report. Check whether pages load comfortably, text remains readable and customers can tap the telephone or messaging links.
Keep forms short, remove unnecessary pop-ups and test the confirmation shown after a submission. A ranking has limited value if a customer reaches the website and cannot contact the business.
6. Answer questions customers already ask
Customer conversations are one of the strongest sources of content ideas. Collect repeated questions from telephone calls, WhatsApp, Messenger, email and sales meetings, then turn the useful ones into service-page sections or focused articles.
This produces more natural content than building every article around an estimated search volume. Our guide to keyword research in Nepal explains how to turn those questions into a practical page plan without creating several URLs for the same intent.
7. Earn relevant links instead of buying packages
A strong backlink should exist because the destination helps the reader. Publish original research, practical resources, expert commentary or local industry information that credible websites have a reason to reference.
Avoid bulk packages offering hundreds of placements on unrelated websites. Authority grows when recognised organisations and publications mention a business for a legitimate reason, not when low-quality sites repeat the same anchor text.
What to prioritise first
Start with indexing, service pages, local information and the contact journey. These improvements are less exciting than a new ranking tactic, but they solve the problems that most often prevent SEO from producing business.
A capable digital marketing agency in Nepal should identify which of these areas is limiting the website before recommending a monthly content or link-building package.
